Efforts to strengthen security infrastructure in Lagos State received a major boost on Monday as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent headquarters of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in Alausa.

The multi-storey office complex, located on Assfibi Road, is being fully funded and donated by frontline businessman and philanthropist, Sir Adebukunola Adebutu Kessington. The project is expected to be completed by October 2026.

Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the LSSTF, established in 2007 to support security operations across the state, had operated from rented facilities for over 17 years, a situation the new development would finally address.

According to the governor, the permanent headquarters will significantly improve the agency’s operational capacity, professionalism, and service delivery, while strengthening Lagos State’s overall security architecture.

“LSSTF has been operating from rented accommodation for years. The completion of this permanent office will enable the agency to discharge its statutory responsibilities with greater efficiency, integrity, and professionalism,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He commended Sir Kessington for his philanthropic intervention, describing it as an act of patriotism that eased the financial burden on the state government and eliminated bureaucratic delays that could have stalled the project.

The Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, said the groundbreaking marked a key milestone in his vision to reposition the agency following his appointment. He noted that the purpose-built headquarters would enhance coordination with security agencies and boost the Fund’s institutional capacity.

Dr Ogunsan disclosed that the building would be named after Sir Kessington in recognition of his contribution to public safety in Lagos.

In his remarks, Sir Kessington described the donation as a call to service, stressing that the project aligns with efforts to protect lives, property, and economic activities in Lagos, which he described as the nation’s commercial heartbeat.

He added that the facility would stand as a lasting symbol of collective responsibility toward peace, safety, and stability in the state.
