Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has felicitated with the Yoruba people on the celebration of Isese Day, marked across the six South-West states on Wednesday, August 20.
In a goodwill message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the Governor called on traditionalists and the wider Yoruba community to use the occasion to reflect on the Omoluabi ethos of tolerance, hospitality, and peaceful coexistence with adherents of other faiths and neighbours.
Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting indigenous culture, preserving Yoruba heritage, and supporting traditional institutions across Lagos State. He praised traditional rulers and religious leaders for their role in sustaining the cultural and spiritual legacies of the forefathers.
“Although the world has become a global village with increasing multiculturalism, the Yoruba people have a unique culture and heritage that must be preserved for generations to come,” he said.
The Governor commended his colleagues in the South-West for declaring a public holiday in their states in honour of Isese Day, noting that Lagos also joined in the observance.
He urged all Yoruba people, especially traditionalists, to continue fostering peace, harmony, unity, and love with people of other religions.
