Lecturers at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have resolved to withdraw their services beginning Wednesday over allegations that their January and February 2026 salaries were not fully paid.

The decision followed an emergency congress of the institution’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) held on Tuesday at the university’s Akoka campus in Lagos.

During the meeting, members reportedly rejected what they described as “amputated” salaries for the two months and condemned the university management’s handling of the payments.

Sources at the congress said lecturers observed that January salaries were paid without certain allowances. Staff at the Akoka campus allegedly did not receive Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), while those at the Idi-Araba campus were said to have been paid without both EAA and Clinical Academic Training Allowance (CATA).

The lecturers also accused the university administration of repeating the same pattern with the February 2026 salaries.
According to the union, the development violates acceptable standards and reflects insensitivity on the part of the management.

Following deliberations, members resolved to withdraw their services from Wednesday until their salaries and allowances are paid in full.
