X, formerly known as Twitter, is back online after suffering a widespread outage that lasted about an hour on Monday.
The disruption affected users across multiple regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom and India, with thousands reporting difficulties accessing both the app and website. At the peak of the incident around 13:00 GMT, data from Downdetector showed more than 25,000 outage reports.
During the outage, users reported that the platform failed to load, displaying only the “X” logo instead of timelines and posts. Although services have now been restored, the cause of the disruption remains unclear. The company has not issued an official statement explaining what triggered the outage.
The incident adds to a series of recent disruptions affecting major internet and cloud services. X experienced a similar outage in March 2025, while other platforms have also faced downtime linked to infrastructure problems involving providers such as Cloudflare, Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS, which in the past have caused widespread service interruptions across the internet.
X does not operate a public status page to provide real-time outage updates, and neither the company nor its owner, Elon Musk, has confirmed the reason for the latest disruption or whether steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence
