The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has said it launched its campaign council for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election.
The party stated that the council was inaugurated on Wednesday, ahead of the by-election scheduled for August 16, 2025, and it expressed hope for a victory celebration by August 18.
APC explained that the campaign was necessary to help the party retain the seat, which became vacant after the death of Hon. Musiliu Akinremi.
The party added that it wanted to prevent unfit individuals, whom it described as “hawks and impostors,” from taking control of the constituency.
The inauguration took place at the APC State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to the party, the event was led by its state chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, who announced Rep. Akin Alabi as Director-General of the campaign council and Hon. Gaphar Ojetola as Deputy Director-General.
The party also confirmed Hon. Adewale Haastrup Olatunji, known as Murphy, as its candidate.
Other party members, including Mr Monsuru Adeyemo and former aspirants, were present and pledged their support.
The APC said it had formed a campaign team made up of experienced politicians and loyal members.
The party added that this team would work closely with all party structures to mobilise voters, promote unity, and ensure the party’s message reached every part of the constituency.
