The family of Mrs. Opral Benson, popularly known as the Iya Oge of Lagos, has raised alarm over her disappearance, declaring her missing under circumstances that have since generated widespread confusion and questions.
In an “Urgent Community Alert” released by the family, Mrs. Benson, the matriarch of the TOS Benson family of Ikorodu, Lagos, was reported missing after she allegedly failed to return home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
“The family reports that Mama Opral Benson has been missing since Tuesday, January 13, 2026. She has not returned home and her current whereabouts are unknown,” the statement said.
The family appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact them via 0803 703 9214 or report to the nearest police station, stressing that the situation was time-sensitive.
However, as concerns mounted and questions emerged — including whether she left home alone, the role of her caregiver, and who last saw her — a separate report surfaced claiming that Mama Opral Benson is currently in Liberia, her country of origin.
According to the report, she reportedly arrived in Liberia on Wednesday, a development that has further deepened the mystery surrounding her earlier declaration as missing.
Her alleged presence in Liberia has sparked fresh questions: Did she travel without informing her family? Who facilitated her journey to the airport? Was she accompanied? And if the family was aware of her travel plans, why was a missing persons alert issued?
As of the time of filing this report, the family has yet to issue an official clarification addressing the conflicting accounts, leaving the public uncertain about the true circumstances surrounding the disappearance — or travel — of the revered Lagos figure.
