Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over serious allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
Dr. Aondona was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi, following a petition filed by several female students who accused him of engaging in criminal and unethical conduct involving sexual exploitation and digital harassment.
According to the petitioners, the governor’s aide allegedly recruited slim and attractive young women for ushering jobs, but demanded sexual favours as a precondition for selection. The victims claimed they were coerced into sexual relations, unaware that Aondona had been secretly recording the encounters.
The recordings, allegedly made without their knowledge or consent, were reportedly used to blackmail the victims—threatening to release the videos if they refused to continue the sexual relationship. It was further alleged that some of these explicit videos had already been shared on various messaging platforms.
The EFCC confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of preliminary inquiries.
