Ikeja Electric has attributed the recent reduction in electricity supply across areas served by its network to a shortfall in power allocated to the distribution company from the national grid.

In a public notice dated October 5, 2026, the electricity distribution company acknowledged that customers across its network have experienced reduced hours of supply in recent days.

Ikeja Electric said the situation was caused by reduced grid allocation, resulting in less power being available for distribution to customers.

“We wish to inform customers across Ikeja Electric network that the reduced hours of electricity supply is due to a shortfall in the amount of power currently allocated to our network from the national grid,” the company said.

The development comes amid complaints from residents in several parts of Lagos over prolonged outages and shorter periods of electricity supply in the past several days.

Ikeja Electric apologised for the inconvenience caused by the situation and appealed to customers for patience and understanding.

The company said it was engaging relevant stakeholders in an effort to improve the amount of power available to its network.

It also assured customers that it would continue to distribute the power received from the national grid as efficiently and equitably as possible.

The company added that it would continue to provide updates to customers as the situation develops.
