Residents and businesses across several parts of Lagos under the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) franchise have been grappling with prolonged power outages since Friday, leading to growing concerns over economic losses and daily disruptions.
Areas affected by the blackout include Ikeja, Agege, Akowonjo, Egbeda, and other surrounding communities, where electricity supply has remained largely unavailable for extended periods.
In a statement issued to customers, Ikeja Electric acknowledged the disruption and apologized for the inconvenience caused. The company assured that efforts are underway to restore power to affected feeders.
“We sincerely regret the ongoing service disruption currently affecting some areas across our network,” the statement read. “Please be assured that all relevant stakeholders are working diligently and in close coordination to restore power supply to all affected feeders as quickly as possible.”
The distribution company further appealed for patience and understanding, noting that updates would be provided as restoration efforts continue.
The outage has impacted both residential and commercial activities, with many businesses forced to rely on alternative power sources, thereby increasing operational costs.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official timeline for full restoration of electricity supply across the affected areas.
