Dr Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has obtained the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination form for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
Ajose announced the move via his official X account on Wednesday, describing it as a major step in his ambition to serve as governor under the APC platform. He said his decision reflects a commitment to purposeful leadership, inclusive governance, and development that benefits all residents of the state.
He added that his vision is focused on creating opportunities, driving growth across communities, and ensuring no one is left behind.
Ajose’s entry into the race comes despite the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), which had earlier named Hamzat as the party’s consensus candidate.
The development signals potential internal contest within the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
