WAEC releases 2026 CB-SSCE results

The West African Examinations Council has released the first batch of results for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates.

In a statement issued on Friday, the council disclosed that 10,480 candidates sat for the examination conducted between January 28 and February 14, 2026, across 166 centres nationwide. Out of this number, 3,429 candidates—representing 32.72 percent—obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Overall, 4,598 candidates (43.87 percent) secured five credits or more, with or without English and Mathematics.
The council noted that 10,523 candidates registered for the examination, marking an 11.49 percent increase compared to the 2025 figure of 9,438.

In terms of gender distribution, 5,106 candidates (48.72 percent) were male, while 5,374 (51.28 percent) were female.

WAEC also revealed that 8,418 candidates have had their results fully processed and released, while 2,062 candidates (19.68 percent) still have some subjects pending due to issues attributed to them. The council assured that efforts are ongoing to complete the processing.

Additionally, 75 candidates are under investigation for alleged examination malpractice, with their results currently withheld pending the outcome.

The examination body further disclosed that 43 candidates with special needs participated in the exercise, including those with visual and hearing impairments, as well as albino candidates.

According to WAEC, a total of 608 examiners were engaged in marking scripts at centres in Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna.
